It is often argued that in order to create a happy society,the gap between the earnings of the richest and the poorest should be narrowed.I think a monetary scale is not appropriate to measure the happiness level of a person;whether it is the rich or the poor.

为了创造幸福的社会，应该缩小富人和穷人之间的收入差距。我认为金钱并不是衡量一个人幸福程度的合适尺度，无论他贫穷还是富有。

Firstly,one should understand happiness is not a tangible thing to measure because most people define it in different ways.If the case of money is taken into consideration,there is no specific limit of earnings that makes a person happy.To be precise,the rich desire more money to make themselves happier.Similarly,the poor want more money to explore new horizons in their life,for example,a car or their own house.Yet happiness would not stay longer with them as they aim for new desires.

首先，一个人应该理解，幸福并不是一件能够明确衡量的事物，因为大多数人对它的定义都各不相同。如果考虑金钱的话，并没有明确的限制什么样的收入能够使人幸福。更确切的说，富人渴望更多的金钱让自己更加幸福。相似的，穷人也想要更多的金钱来探索生活中不同的领域，例如一辆汽车或者自己的房子。然而，幸福并不会留存很久，因为他们总是会有新的想法。

实现幸福的方式

Finding the best way to find happiness in society is really a hectic job.It should be understood that a happy society should meet all the basic needs and is to be updated with the developmental processes as per the technological and scientific advancements.For example,in a society in which smartphones and computers are popular,irrespective of the economic status,one can hardly distinguish the happiness level between the rich and the poor.

寻找实现社会幸福的最佳方法是项繁重的工作。人们应该理解，幸福的社会应该满足基本需要，并随着技术和科学的进步而进步。例如，在一个智能手机和电脑十分流行的社会中，人们很难区分富人和穷人之间的幸福程度，无论其经济地位如何。

On the other hand,balancing the earnings of the richest and the poorest is one attempt to make society happy.However,it seems to be hardly practical as one cannot easily re-order a social system,which shaped itself over a thousand years.

To conclude,though the idea of narrowing the gap between the earnings of the richest and the poorest seems to be a good idea to embrace happiness,it hardly happens.Instead,other factors such as satisfying the basic needs of society and updating them with technology seem to be more productive.
